Hello and welcome to another week here at 1guysmindlessmoviereviews.com. I hope everyone who is reading this is doing well, and hopefully, you have some relaxation or maybe an adventure planned for Labor Day weekend next week. Those who know me know that I love sequels to my favorite movies. There is nothing better than sitting down in a theater to watch a movie knowing that you have most of the backstory already out of the way.
Before I start, I also have to tell you how much I loved the first “Nobody” when it came out in 2021. I’ve been a fan of Odenkirk for a while, and that movie hit me so hard…I loved it immediately. It’s too bad I wasn’t writing these reviews back then; it would have made my top ten for sure for that year. Ok, I don’t want to ruin this for anybody, so if you haven’t seen “Nobody 2” and don’t want to get spoiled, then you might want to check out some of my other reviews here, then come back to finish this one.
For all you other nobodies, let’s continue. “Nobody 2” was directed by Timo Tjahjanto and is the follow-up to 2001’s “Nobody” with most of the same cast. The entire Mansell family returns, including Hutch (Odenkirk), Becca (Nielsen), Brady (Gage Munroe), Sammy (Paisley Cadorath), Hutch’s brother Harry (RZA), and, of course, the great Christopher Lloyd as Hutch’s dad, David. This movie has a similar vibe and flow as part one, only this time it starts with Hutch using his skills as part of his job…and to pay back all the money he burnt.

Caught in a sort of rut, the family decides to take a little vacation. Hutch, who is a bit overworked anyway, starts to really look forward to it. So, he plans a getaway in Plummerville, Arkansas… the same place his dad took him and his brother to when they were kids. What seems like a normal small town with a waterpark and some fun stuff to do turns out to be more than Hutch and his family realize. Of course, Hutch stumbles onto a whole organization where his fighting skills will once again be put to the test.
Joining the Mansell family in the “Nobody 2” cast are John Ortiz and Lucius Hoyos (as Wyatt and his son Max), Colin Hanks as Sheriff Abel (a crooked cop, of course… and a real asshole), and Sharon Stone as the lady running the whole show, Ledina. Ledina isn’t a rational person and is forcing Wyatt to help her run drugs and all sorts of other illegal paraphernalia. Things start to go awry when some guys who run the local arcade aren’t nice and smack his daughter in the head as they leave. Hutch goes back to teach them a lesson, but also ends up at the police station.
After making a deal to stay out of trouble, Sheriff Abel sends a team after him anyway to try and force him to leave. Naturally, Hutch, being who he is, escapes every attempt with only a few bumps, scraps, and maybe missing a tip to his finger. But he consistently gets the better of them. Finally, when he torches their warehouse full of goods, Ledina sends everyone after him.
Much like the final battle scene in part one. Hutch and his dad (along with help from Wyatt now) hole up in the waterpark to make their final stand. While this is going on, Becca and the kids are having their own issues with some of Ledina’s men who has tracked them down. Then, the biggest surprise of all happens when we discover that Becca is a great shot. What sort of secrets has she been hiding as well? Hopefully this is something we get to discover in part three… if there is one… I hope there is!

The final battle is as great as I knew it would be, with some great waterpark showdowns and a hilarious David one-liner that still makes me laugh. Harry also shows up to lend a hand. Hutch once again comes out on top as both Ledina and the Sheriff meet their fate. We are left with the family reunited and a few questions moving forward, but mostly a happy ending either way.
So, “Nobody 2” had a tall order to outdo its predecessor, and it didn’t quite make it. Now, this is a great action movie, and I most definitely enjoyed it. Especially getting to see the Mansell family on the big screen again. However, it just didn’t have the pop that the first film did. Nothing really bad to point out, just not quite as good as I would have hoped.
Overall, I still loved it, and the fight scenes are what really sold it. The fight on the duck boat, the warehouse, and of course the waterpark battle are all worth the price of admission alone; throw in some family dynamics (Lloyd) and you have yourself a great film. It was just a lot to live up to in my book. With that being said, I still give this a very solid 8 out of 10 for just pure fun and seeing the characters I love on screen again.
Ok, that’s it for me this week. So, now it’s your turn. Let me know in the comments below what you thought of the movie. Were you a fan of part one or did you even see part one before you watched this? What did you think of the action and fighting scenes? I’m working up something fun in a few weeks. I will give more details later, but stay tuned for some fun! Thanks and see you next week with a mindless review of some sort.
